Programme 3 · Rights & Access to Help

solicitor.ngo

Access-to-justice information for people in England and Wales.

This site is in its launch phase. Our first in-depth guides are being prepared; the checklist below is available now.

Five checks before you apply or seek help

  1. Use official channels. Find the official service through the government’s own website (in the UK, GOV.UK) rather than through search adverts.
  2. Check that a professional is registered with the relevant regulator — in England, for example, the Solicitors Regulation Authority for solicitors and the General Dental Council for dentists.
  3. Ask for costs in writing before you agree to anything.
  4. Be wary of anyone who guarantees an outcome, asks for payment in unusual ways or asks you to keep the arrangement secret.
  5. Know how to complain: providers must explain their complaints procedure, and ombudsman services are free to use.

About us

solicitor.ngo is one of the public-interest websites of Finance Transparency CIC. Our mission is independent, plain-language information that helps households worldwide make safe decisions about their money, their living costs and their rights — especially people at risk of financial harm, scams or problem debt.

Our work is organised in three programmes:

Programme 1 · Money & Investor Protection

Savings, pensions, investing and digital assets: plain-language risk disclosure and scam prevention.

Programme 2 · Household Costs & Debt

Credit, mortgages, insurance, energy, housing, pay and education costs: understanding what you sign and where to get help.

Programme 3 · Rights & Access to HelpThis site

Legal help, migration, identity documents and health costs: official channels, your rights and free support.

Conflicts of interest

Our founder also works in finance, including investment banking and a commercial data project on tokenised assets. The company is independent of those activities: it does not link to them, promote them or share users with them. Any related-party transaction is approved and recorded under our articles and disclosed in our annual community interest report.
